Worldline has been selected by the European Central Bank to participate in the Eurosystem's digital euro pilot, the company confirmed on 15 July 2026.
The Paris- and Luxembourg-headquartered payments group will take part as both an acquiring payment service provider and a technical service provider. Its role will cover infrastructure connectivity, transaction processing, banking channel integration and merchant acceptance.

Pilot Scope and Timeline
- The pilot is scheduled to launch in the second half of 2027.
- It will run for 12 months.
- It will assess digital euro payment journeys across consumer and merchant use cases.
- Use cases include in-store NFC contactless payments, e-commerce and mobile commerce.
