Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, purchased 334 Bitcoin for $28.7 million between Oct. 1 and Oct. 4, its smallest positive Bitcoin acquisition of 2026, according to an Oct. 5 filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
The Michael Saylor-founded company bought the Bitcoin at an average price of $85,838.80, bringing its total holdings to 848,000 BTC. The purchase fell below the previous yearly low of 520 BTC acquired in June.
The slowdown in acquisitions came despite strong performance from Strategy's existing Bitcoin position. Bitcoin gained about 43% during the third quarter, a rally that helped generate a $20.9 billion gain on the company's digital-asset holdings and lifted the carrying value of its treasury.
The filing also noted that preferred-share buybacks have reached $1.45 billion.
